Embedded Linux: GUI Development

development

Embedded devices equipped with a TFT display are used for the communication between humans and machines.

Our userspace team develops GUI software focusing on:

  • Performance
  • Platform independence
  • Usability

Modern GUIs with Qt

Embedded devices with TFT displays offer a man-machine interface which can be used to control all kinds of devices.

With Qt a performant GUI platform is available which makes it possible to realize modern user interfaces even on moderately powered devices.

The following video shows the boot sequence of Linux and Qt on a low-end ARM:

  • Freescale i.MX27, 400 MHz ARM926
  • No Graphics Acceleration
  • Splashscreen from Bootloader
  • Flicker free boot process into Linux + Qt
  • r/w Root Filesystem
